Having successfully carried out guarding duties for Monkey Island Hotel in the past, the Management were more than happy to approach us for what we now know to be a very important and high-profile job.
We were initially briefed to carry out a site evaluation, produce an event security management programme and provide suitably vetted, qualified and experienced staff before we were advised who we were looking after. Not only were we looking after Russian athletes, we would also be looking after Russian dignitaries.
After detailed meetings with the hotel Management, Russian security personnel and senior Thames Valley Police officers, we also successfully provided security for the athletes.
In between competing, we accompanied the athletes on training exercises and also on trips to local attractions. And after completion of their events, we posed for photographs with the athletes and their medals. A real high point for Coverguard!
